PlayStation 3 Firmware Cracked…But It Isn’t Worth It

Published by djyano under Playstation Edit This

Yes, you’re reading the headline correctly, the PlayStation 3’s firmware has been cracked. And what exploits can this bring? Well, the most notorious of them all, playing pirated games. But whoah, whoah, hold on there, skipper. You see, unlike the PSP where firmware updates didn’t really offer too much, the PS3 is a completely different beast. The PS3’s firmware has already given us gems like enhancing backwards compatibility and DVD upscaling. Likewise, new games will require a system to have the newest firmware installed in order to be booted (just like PSP games).

PS3 Firmware 2.30 Provides HD-DTS Audio

Sony America has confirmed the two new features, and if you weren’t aware, DTS stands for Digital Theater System; it’s a multichannel, digital surround-sound format, while the Master Audio is a “lossless codec that delivers sound to movie fans at 24.5 megabits per second.” Not surprisingly, that’s a whole lot faster than standard DVD sound. This new option will be just that, an option- DTS-HD High Resolution audio can be enabled or disabled depending on your home theater setup. If you can use it, though, it will “stream explosions, speech, and everything else at a constant bit rate of 6.0 Mbps.” Now that Blu-Ray has officially won the format war, it only makes sense to enhance the experience, yes?

But, the most pinning reasons why pirating PlayStation 3 games just isn’t a good idea are simple.

1) A recordable Blu-Ray disc costs in the neighborhood of $40.

2) PlayStation 3 games will soon range between 20-40GBs in size and that’s a lot to download, even for today’s broadband connections.

3) Just like Microsoft, if you get caught with piracy, Sony will likely axe you (read: ban you) from the PlayStation Network. Don’t succumb to the stupidity of piracy.

    Playstation 4 Predictions

Published by djyano under Playstation Edit This

Playstation 4 aka PS4 is inevitable. The playstation has become less of a gaming console and more of an entertainment system. The blue ray disc reading capability integrated in the playstation 3 further demonstrates what playstation has to offer to consumers of entertainment.

The Playstation 3 has already surprised many of the people who have contributed to its development. It has exceeded everybodies expectations and our guess is, that it will continue to do so up to the very moment the Playstation 4 is released and blows everybody off their feet.

There is no definite date yet or any word that they have started on it, but as they did when the Ps2 was released, it is possible that they started working on the Playstation 4 (PS4) as soon as the Ps3 as released.

    Playstation 4 Release Date

It seems like the Playstation 4 release date has varied from 2010, 2011, and 2014. The official PS4 release date has not been announnced by Sony but there is no doubt that there will be a system succeeeding the PS3. The Playstation 3 has yet to reach its peak due to heavy competition but when game developers begin to overlook the blu-ray flaws, the best games will be available on the PS3 and Playstation 3 sales will rise. Resources have been primarily focused on the PS3 at present but once the Playstation 3 is where it needs to be in sales, the available resources will begin to turn its attention to the development of the Playstation 4. We will see the PS4 sometime between 2010 and 2020. Some articles have even mentioned that the PS4 might not even need discs. This would be fine if it was possible for you to download large game files in a short amount of time. But who knows it seems you can do almost anything on the internet nowadays.

    This is my predictions
