Increase Adsense CTR With Background Images

Published by djyano under Adsense Edit This

AdSense background images are the hottest new way to boost your AdSense CTR, and although many believe that it violates the AdSense TOS they are dead wrong.

It has been confirmed by Google to be completely safe and compliant with the AdSense TOS. The only pictures they said would violate this is ones that point to the ads or ask for them to be clicked. You will not find any of that trash here though so don’t worry.

The code for inserting a background image for your Adsense ads is quite simple. I did not change any of the Adsense ad code.May not place misleading labels above Google ad units - for instance, ads may be labeled “Sponsored Links” but not “Favorite Sites”
I had also written to Adsense support asking them whether these images were okay.

Here’s Google’s response:

“The background images used on your site would be considered a violation of our program policies because it could draw unnatural attention to your ads.

Publishers are not permitted to encourage users to click on Google ads or bring excessive attention to ad units. For example, you may not use symbols or misleading images that direct attention to the ads on their sites.

We ask that you please restore the ads to their intended settings. We ask that publishers copy and display the ad code exactly as it appears in the ‘Your AdSense code’ box of your AdSense account without any modifications.

Please keep in mind that modifying the ad code or drawing unnatural attention to the ads are against our program policies.”

Written by : SatishTalim

Finally, can we use Adsense background images? Is this against the TOS?

Here’s Google’s answer - “Background images are fine so long as the ads are clearly portrayed as ads, and clearly distinguished from the content.”

1. You may not change the ad code itself. The wording in the policies is:

Any AdSense ad code, search box code, or referral code must be pasted directly into Web pages without modification. AdSense participants are not allowed to alter any portion of the ad code or change the layout, behavior, targeting, or delivery of ads for any reason.

2. You can not be seen to be drawing undue attention to ads, either with text or images.

Visit problogger to read more about this.

Google AdSense Program Policies

Encouraging clicks

In order to ensure a good experience for users and advertisers, publishers may not request that users click the ads on their sites or rely on deceptive implementation methods to obtain clicks. Publishers participating in the AdSense program:

  • May not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as “click the ads,” “support us,” “visit these links,” or other similar language
  • May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks
  • May not place misleading images alongside individual ads
  • May not promote sites displaying ads through unsolicited mass emails or unwanted advertisements on third-party websites
  • May not compensate users for viewing ads or performing searches, or promise compensation to a third party for such behavior
  • Read More!

Others, meanwhile, will tell you that what’s prohibited is over-optimizing your images such that they already represent the context of your text ads (e.g., if your site is about fruits, and most of your AdSense ads are about fruits, you put up images of fruits alongside the ads; see image below, which was used by Inside AdSense as an example).

Google, itself does not explicitly say you cannot insert images, but only says that associated images should not be used.

So are you satisfied? You are not against Google adsense TOS if you do it right.

I am going to teach you how to put background images with adsense ads and increase your CTR. You can either create your own background image or you can get it free at http://adclustr.com.

    Is adclustr legal?

We have contacted Google multiple times and they have continually said that if the backgrounds don’t bring undue attention to your ads, then you are OK. Of course, if you have any concerns, or if you are unsure of the implementation you have, please contact Google directly.

Simply and to the point, Google insists that background images are fine so long as the ads are clearly portrayed as ads, and clearly distinguished from the content.

Ok, after you have created your own images or downloaded from http://adclustr.com, the next step is how do to put the background image in adsense ads in the example below? -:

Just copy all the code and change some values in red :

    <table align="center" width="INSERT IMAGE WIDTH" height="INSERT IMAGE HEIGHT" border="0" background="INSERT IMAGE URL"><tr><td width="INSERT IMAGE WIDTH" height="INSERT IMAGE HEIGHT"><div align="center">

    YOURADSENSECODEHERE

    </div></td></tr></table>

Enjoy with your new adsense ads and increase you revenue!

Rice prices hurt poor in Philippines

Published by djyano under Online INFOs Edit This

Garbage scavengers abound in the impoverished Manila area of Tondo,
where thousands of families earn less than 200 pesos (5 US dollars) a day.

Most families subsist on segregating and selling recyclable waste such
as plastics and styrofoam. They also live among the mounds of garbage bags
that they transport from nearby dumpsites. Amy Ignacio has been collecting trash from a fastfood restaurant for the past six years. Feeling wasteful about throwing away the leftover chicken with some meat remaining, she re-cooks them to feed her children.

They call it “pagpag,” meaning recycled. With food inflation eating up the income of families living in Tondo, some days they can only buy a few kilos of rice, turning more and more to “pagpag.” “A lot of scavengers sell recycled food that they segregate from other waste. It’s common practice around here. With the kind of life we live, this helps a lot.

When you buy a bag worth a few pesos, you can already feed one whole family,” Ignacio said. She said none of her three children have gotten sick from eating recycled food. When she collects enough enough, Ignacio shares the re-cooked leftovers with her neighbors. The National Anti-Poverty Commission warns that eating recycled food severely compromises the children’s nutrition, and food-related diseases may appear later.

“I eat this sometimes, when my mother does some scavenging. It tastes good,” said seven-year-old Mariz Lozada. Ryan Telegrepo, Ignacio’s neighbor, said poor people’s appetites are not choosy enough to reject recycled food. He is not even worried about feeding leftovers to his seven-month old baby. “Before we would only get a pinch, eat some leftovers.

Now, it’s our main meal. Recycled food. That’s why you see many people selling it in small bags,” he said. Though the practice is widespread in the Tondo area, the chairman of a scavengers’ cooperative prohibits his members from eating and selling recycled food.

“You don’t know where this food is from. It’s as if you devalue the person by selling him food that has already been eaten. It’s inhuman,” said Danny Tanael, chairman of Eco-Aid cooperative. The National Anti-Poverty Commission also warns against eating leftovers and prescribes needy families to apply for cash transfers to buy food.

“There are other sources of livelihood through which poor families can earn. At the end of the day, this kind of food taken from garbage bags is not good for the health,” said Dolores de Quiros-Castillo, assistant secretary for the anti-poverty commission. Three out of ten Filipinos in a population of 88.57 million live below the poverty line. An estimated 27.6 million families survive on less than 6,274 pesos (149 US dollars) a month.

I’ll swear if i am rich, i will help them.

5 Step To Speed Up Firefox With Pipelining

Published by djyano under Firefox Edit This

Here’s a simple way to speed up Web browsing with Firefox, turn on its hidden pipelining feature. When you turn on pipelining, you send several requests to a Web server at a time, rather than sending them one by one, so you can load multiple items on a page concurrently. By default, pipelining is turned off in Firefox, but it’s easy to turn it on:

1)Type about:config into your address bar and hit Enter.

2)In the Filter text box, at the top of the page, type network.http. A list of settings appears, as you can see in the nearby figure.

3)Double-click the “network.http.pipelining” setting, to change it to true.

4)Double-click the “network.http.proxy.pipelining” setting, to change it to true.

5)Double-click the “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” setting, and in the text box that appears, type in 8 and click OK.

Note that not all Web servers can handle pipelining. If for some reason, you find that your performance suffers with it turned on, reverse the above steps to turn it off.

11 Ways to Free Repeat Traffic

Published by djyano under Traffic Edit This

    by Michael Davey

Free repeat website traffic has to be the second most important priority for any E-Commerce site. Number one being the initial generation of traffic. Take the time to get your site consumer friendly. Spend time visiting sites you frequent and write down all the items that attract you about that site and duplicate them. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel to have a successful website.

    11 METHODS

    1. Offer as much additional value on your website as possible without shooting yourself in the foot. For affiliates and partners you can place links to their sites and ask them to reciprocate the favor. Another great way to benefit both of you is to advertise their products and ask them to do the same. This provides free traffic and advertising for both of you. Obviously you don’t want to advertise any product or service that you are in competition with.

    2. You can allow customers to ‘opt in’ and provide them with a 10% discount on their first order, and allow them to be the first to see any new promotions you are offering. This also allows you to stay in constant contact with your customers and potential customers. Coupons are another very effective way of keeping your ‘opt in’ list returning to your site.

    3. Create a schedule to update the pages on your website on a regular basis. In time, stagnant websites are dropped by some of the search engines. I would suggest you put a date counter on the page to show when it was last updated. This also tells all your visitors very quickly how attentive and diligent you are in bringing them the latest information.

    4. Make it simple for a visitor to become a customer by adding a link to your primary page with a script ‘Book Mark or Add this site to your Favorites’. Most internet users are repeatedly referencing their favorite’s folder, I know I do.

    5. Like item 4, make it simple for your visitors to attract potential customers for you by adding a link ‘Recommend this site to a Friend’ so that the visitor can email your website link, with a pre-written title, “Thought you might be interested in this”, that with the click of a button a visitor in recommending your site to.

    6. Create an ‘Our Policies’ page that clearly defines your philosophy and principles in dealing with your customers. Also post your privacy policy as well so that clients know they are secure when they visit your site. This is a great opportunity to reveal to your potential customers who and what your principles and morals are all about.

    7. Brand your website. This will create a presence and feel for your customers and visitors that they are at your site. Use consistent colors, page design, logos and slogans on every page and always provide a ‘Contact Us’ link and ‘Home’ link on each page. Spend some time to create a “favicon” to forever identify and brand your site. I know from my own surfing experiences that there have been sites I was visiting with no way to return to their home page without clicking the back button. Very annoying. You need your sites pages to flow.

    8. Create a FAQ page which addresses most of the doubts, questions, and clarifications about your product or your company that are likely to be asked. Sit down and picture yourself arriving at your site for the very first time. Get a pen and paper and write down what you would like to know as a potential purchaser from this site. This will help to resolve most of the customers doubts in their first visit to your site.

    9. Never spam a client, who has opted for newsletters, with unsolicited emails! Also if they decide they want to ‘opt out’ of the mailings, always be sure you honor their request and take them off the mailing list. They may still come back if they like your products. But they will certainly not come back if you continue to flood their email box with mails they no longer wish to receive.

    10. Make sure each page on your website has the appropriate title and keywords so that your customer can find their way back to your site if they lose the bookmark. Remember your page title appears in the web browser. Anyone like me who has multiple tabs and pages open at the same time, the title allows for a quick return.

    11. I saved this for last because it is my largest pet peeve: grammar! When I view a website with numerous spelling and obvious grammatical errors, I leave immediately. I’m sure that I am in the majority of people who see a website with these errors; our immediate reaction is, if someone cares that little about their sites presentation, they certainly won’t care about me as a customer. Use any spell check application you wish, but use one for everything you write.

    SUMMARY

That’s my 11 ways to free repeat website traffic. Copy and post this beside your computer for the next time you update your web pages. They are the basics of great websites and will certainly pave a path to free repeat website traffic.

How To Unblock Blocked Web Sites

Published by djyano under Online Service Edit This

Companies and schools like to prevent access to many websites but a proxy site will help you avoid being blocked by web filters if you are using an education or corporate network such as those at work, at college or school, public libraries, an office or internet cafe or anywhere that might have filtered internet connection. In short proxies allow you to bypass an Internet filter and firewall and defeat web site blocking policies.

Proxies allow anyone to surf the web with a greater level of anonymity, privacy and security. Identifying information such as your IP address, location, operating system and browser type is removed by the web proxy site and the web site you are accessing observes the communication originating from the proxy site, not your computer. Another name is anonymous proxy, anonymizer or anonymizing proxy because it facilitates Internet browsing without revealing your identity, and Circumventer because it allows you to circumvent a college internet filter or company firewall.

  • Other methods

There are always legitimate reasons to bypass the internet filters and unblock websites. The following tricks will show how to access all websites at school, college, offices or at home.

    1) To access blocked website, type the IP number instead of the URL in the browser address bar. However, if your blocking software maps the IP address to the web server (reverse DNS lookup), the website will still remain blocked.

    2) Use a URL redirection service like tinyurl.com or snipurl.com. These domain forwarding services sometimes work as the address in the the url box remain the redirect url and do not change to the banned site.

    3) Enter the URL in Google or Yahoo search and then visit the cached copy of the page. To retrieve the page more quickly from Google’s cache, click “Cached Text Only” while the browser is loading the page from cache.

    4) There are anonymizer websites who will fetch the blocked web page from their servers and display them to you. As far as the service provider is concerned, you are viewing the page on the Anonymizer website and not the blocked site.

    5) You can access blocked or restricted websites by using Yahoo Babelfish or Google Translate language tools as a proxy server.

You just have to invoke the Google translate service with the same language pair like English to English. Assuming that Google is accessible in your school, you should be able to access any website with this method - Babelfish Proxy Sever

    6) Anonymous Surfing - Browse the internet via free proxy server. A proxy server (or proxies) is a normal computer that hides the identity of computers on its network from the Internet.

Which means that only the address of the proxy server is visible to the world and not of those computers that are using it to browse the Internet. Just visit any proxy server with your Web browser and enter a URL or the address of the blocked website.

Access Google Talk Chat or GMail in Office
    Thanks to amit

Google Talk (GTalk) – If you are not allowed to install the GTalk IM client on your computer, there’s a better web based version of Google Talk available at talkgadget.google.com – open this page in your web browser, sign-in with your Gmail user/password and start chatting with friends who are online. You can even group chat with multiple contacts, a feature that’s missing in the desktop version of Google Talk.

Gmail (Google Email) – There are multiple ways to check your Gmail email in the office. The first option is to create a Gmail filter, an option that’s available right near the search box in Gmail. Type your email address in the To: box and then select “Forward all incoming email”. You can select any other email service that’s accessible from office and Gmail will auto-forward all incoming email to this address.

The other option is to use Gmail RSS Feeds. You can use Google Reader, Newsgator, Bloglines or any other newreader and add a new feed with the URL https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom - then submit your Gmail address and password. All new messages can now be read inside your RSS reader.

Google Web Search – If Google.com web search itself is blocked in your office, you can try other alternatives like jux2.com or aftervote.com which offer search results from Google. Another option is to use googlesyndicatedsearch.com which is the same as google.com but on a different server that’s probably safe from your corporate firewall.

What Toxic Chemicals Do Plastic Bags Release After 1000 Years Decompose?

Published by djyano under Go Green Edit This

Most plastic bags are discarded, often after a single use. Recycling of plastics after final use is possible, but plastic bags, in particular, are rarely recycled. According to the UK-based Ban the Bag campaigning group, 0.5% of plastic bags are recycled. Standard plastic bags may take between 500 and 1000 years to decompose, However, such figures are only ever estimates because plastics have not existed for long enough for the precise decomposition time to be measured.

Additives have been developed that allow plastic to degrade and biodegrade within a few months in landfill (as opposed to an estimated 500-1000 years for non-degradable plastic). Plastics made with these additives are called oxobiodegradable, and have been adopted by many ‘ethical’ retailers, e.g., the Co-op in the UK. However, some argue that oxo-biodegradable plastics contribute more to global warming as they release their carbon as carbon dioxide and methane far more quickly than plastics in landfill.

Polyethylene, (IUPAC name polyethene), is a thermoplastic commodity heavily used in consumer products (over 60 million tons are produced worldwide every year). It is a polymer consisting of long chains of the monomer ethylene (IUPAC name ethene).

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1.75 kilograms of petroleum (in terms of energy and raw materials) to make one kilogram of HDPE. This compound is used to make plastic bags, and other products like detergent containers.

Also used is: Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a thermoplastic made from oil. It was the first grade of polyethylene, produced in 1933 by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) using a high pressure process via free radical polymerisation. Its manufacture employs the same method today. This compound is used in plastic bags and other plastic products like six-pack soda can rings.
